The Florida Forest Service is spreading the word about an online tool that maps fires all over the state.

The map features real time fire info and reflects what is going on in specific neighborhoods.

The tool will be able to tell residents whether a cloud of smoke hovering over the area is a wildfire or authorized burn.

It's an internet mapping tool that even allows viewers to zoom in and see what's near the fire.

"It gives you that information you can start looking at to identify do I need to make a call?" said Keith Mousel, who is with the Florida Forest Service. "Should I be concerned with that smoke?"

The mapping tool has been around for a few years.

Forest officials say although the maps are a great tool to have, people should still give them a call in if they see smoke.
