The Citrus County Board of Commissioners is looking for ways to pay for road resurfacing, and members want input from the public.

A public workshop is set for 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for that purpose.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, county roads haven't been resurfaced for two years because of budget constraints. The county needs about $13 million a year to fund a program that would assure that all county roads are paved every 20 years.

At current funding levels, each road would be paved only every 112 years, according to a county agenda memo cited by the Chronicle.

The county is set to look at a number of funding options, including a one-cent surtax that could be placed on the November ballot and a specific non-ad-valorem assessment.
