The Brooksville police officer who was involved in a six-car crash earlier this week is now home.

The chief of police told our partner paper the Tampa Bay Times that Meredith Blackman was released Wednesday morning.

The accident happened in downtown Brooksville. A truck rear-ended the police cruiser, causing a chain reaction crash.

The driver who hit the patrol car was cited for careless driving after admitting that he fell asleep at the wheel.
