A boater died while trying to save a dog that jumped overboard.
The accident occurred on the north side of Three-Rooker Bar near Honeymoon Island around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the dog jumped off the 27-foot boat.
Two men were attempting anchor the boat at the time.
Isam Rizkallan, 58, of Largo, jumped in the water to try and save the dog.
Officials say he was overcome from exhaustion and a strong current.
