A 36-year-old man was shot to death early Saturday in Gibsonton, and another man has been charged with second degree murder.

Around 4:30 a.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Estelle Avenue and California Street to investigate a reported shooting. They found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his upper body, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The dead man was identified as Enrique Rodriguez Garcia, 36, address unknown.

While deputies were en route to the shooting, sheriff's office dispatchers received a call from someone who said a friend showed up at his house and told him he had shot someone. Deputies met with Ruben Rodriguez, 29, of Gibsonton at 6117 Cliff St. and detained him for questioning.

Rodriguez told detectives Garcia had been seen running from his yard, and an altercation followed, which led to the shooting.

Rodriguez was charged with second degree murder.
