Bicyclist struck by vehicle, killed in Homosassa Springs

A bicyclist was struck from behind by a vehicle and killed Sunday night in Homosassa Springs, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Around 6:20 p.m., Trevor Martin Alexander, 32, of Homosassa was riding east on West Cardinal Street approaching South Short Street. He was struck by an eastbound 2005 Honda CRV driven by Shellie Mitchell, 21, of Homosassa, troopers said.

Alexander was ejected and died at the scene.

Charges are pending, troopers said.
