A mother and daughter gave birth on the same day at Tampa General Hospital.

Angela Patram, 37, knew she and her daughter Teranisha Billups, 20, would probably give birth the same month. But Billups wasn't supposed to have her baby boy Jerry for another two weeks when she unexpectedly went into labor.

"I wanted her to deliver with me being in here, and me to deliver with her being there, and it just didn't work out," said Billups about the unique turn of events.

Dr. Atef Zakhary said the delivery floor was full of excitement because no one had ever seen a mother and daughter give birth on the same day. Baby Jerry was born 34 minutes after his aunt Rayna.

"I've been doing this for 29 years, over 14,000 deliveries, and I've never had a mom and daughter deliver the same day," said Dr. Zakhary.

The curveball made it tough for Patram to see her first grandchild right away.

"We were texting back and forth sending pictures back and forth and that was the only way to communicate," said Patram.

She will have plenty of time to catch up with her new grandson though. The mother and daughter plan on raising the two to be best friends, even though they are aunt and nephew.

Patram said that wasn't the only coincidence though. When she got home from the hospital, the movie "Father of the Bride 2" was on television. The Steve Martin movie portrays a mother, played by Diane Keaton, and daughter, played by Kimberly Williams, giving birth at the same time at the same hospital.
