Two men were injured Thursday evening in Tampa when a boat they were working on caught fire in the front yard of a home.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the men, both in their 30s, were changing out fuel tanks on a boat in front of a duplex in the 2100 block of east Bougainvillea Avenue just before 8 p.m.

At some point, there was an explosion, and the fire, which started in the driveway, engulfed the boat and a car, and quickly spread to the home.

Upon arrival the first unit found the boat fully engulfed in flames that were spreading to the the roof overhanging the driveway. Firefighters began dousing the flames while paramedics treated the men who had been working on the boat.

The men were transported to Tampa General Hospital. Their names have not been released.

A woman and child were evacuated from the neighboring unit of the duplex. They were not injured.

The fire has been deemed accidental. Damage to the boat, car and house is estimated at $19,000.
