Valrico bicyclist dies after being struck by car on U.S. 301

A Valrico bicyclist died Tuesday morning after he was struck by a car on U.S. 301 north of Bloomingdale Ridge Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The 43-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was crossing U.S. 301 east to west around 5:20 a.m. when he was hit by a 2007 Toyota Camry being driven by Denise Antoine, 63, of Riverview, troopers said.

The bicyclist was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he later died.
