Demolition continues on the St. Petersburg Pier. The once-inverted pyramid is turning into piles of rubble.

"It's really sad,” said Dennis Shelt, as the St. Petersburg resident took pictures of the demo.

Crews worked Monday to bring down one side of the Pier.

"It's time," said Jeff Norman.

Kristen Brett, who handles communications on the pier, said the city is on track with demolition and the building should be leveled by the end of October.

"It looks like they're trying to be very friendly to the environment, so that's important," said Norman.

If you’ve missed any of the demolition, you can catch a weekly time-lapse online.

"As sad as I am to see it go,” said Shelt, “I'm just glad we're moving forward."

The next step in the demo is the pier approach. Brett said that’s expected to take about four months.

The entire demolition should be finished by the end of February.
