Here's what you need to know about Central Florida's weather for New Year's Day and the upcoming weekend:

  • Warm start to 2016
  • Cooler air arriving soon
  • Rain chances going up

Overnight will remain mostly cloudy with isolated showers possible.  Temperatures will be falling into the low 60s.  A cold front will continue to pass to our south allowing for a cool down this weekend.

The cold front sliding through Florida is bringing in a few minor showers along with a great deal of cloud cover. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy as temperatures only climb to near 70 Saturday afternoon.  The chance for rain is around 30 percent.

Winds from the west will shift to the north tonight, increasing Sunday. Cooler nighttime lows will hover around 60 degrees along the Interstate 4 corridor with 50s found north and west.

A disturbance forming along the front in the Gulf of Mexico, will move into Florida Sunday, bringing more clouds and widespread rain.  Most will only have highs in the mid to upper 60s into early next week.

Boating will increasingly become hazardous this weekend as our wind picks up out of the North, gusting 20 to 25 knots.  Poor conditions for surfers Saturday with wave heights running 2 to 3 feet.
