Authorities are looking for the person responsible for a hit-and-run accident that killed a Tampa father.

Anthony “Tony” Terry was walking along U.S. 92 near Comfort Drive when someone hit and killed him, then sped off.

  • Man hit, killed while walking across US-92
  • First vehicle fled the scene
  • 2nd vehicle hit the man lying in the road; the driver stopped

Florida Highway Patrol says a second car then hit his body but stopped to call police.

The 30-year-old leaves behind a 7-year-old son and grandparents he cared for.

“Tony was a real good guy. He’d do anything you’d want him to do. He never got in any trouble,” said the victim’s grandfather, Mac Gibson.

Family members said Terry was always bringing one of his two grandparents to doctor’s appointments and making sure they were taken care of. They raised him from the age of 2.

The family is asking for anyone with information on the crash, to call authorities: FHP at (813) 631-4020 or Crime Stoppers at 800-873-TIPS.

Investigators have not released any information on a possible driver or make and model of the car.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses, if you'd like to assist.
