A Spring Hill man was critically injured Thursday when he was thrown from his motorcycle after colliding with a car.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say Jimmy Gunton, 26, was on his motorcycle heading south on Mariner Boulevard when a car on the northbound side of the road turned left into his path.

Gunton's bike struck the passenger side of the car, and Gunton was ejected from the bike.

Troopers say Gunton was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. He was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital, where his condition is listed as "critical."

The driver of the car Gunton collided with, Lydia Bell, 82, of Spring Hill, was not injured in the crash.

At this time, investigators do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident.
