  • Case believed to be murder-suicide

Just before noon on Monday, the Sarasota County Fire Department was called to the 2300 block of Margaret Street after a family member had reportedly found an elderly mother and her adult son unconscious.

After entering the home, first responders found Gertrudis Cintron, 78 and Angel Alicea-Estrada, 58. Both are now deceased.

On Tuesday, authorities announced that detectives believe exposure to the drain opener chemicals caused the two deaths.
