An almost two-year investigation into sexual assaults of a young girl in Citrus County has ended.

  • Tampa man arrested in 2015 sexual assault case in Citrus
  • David Rabin charged for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl

David Rabin, 37, of Tampa was arrested and charged for lewd and lascivious exhibition and lewd and lascivious molestation on a person under 12.

Authorities were alerted in July 2015 in reference to sexual assaults against a 9-year-old girl that occurred in Citrus County and two other counties when she was visiting Florida.

Authorities said the suspect knew the victim and picked her up from another state to vacation together.

Authorities said during that time the victim was forced to do a number of inappropriate things with Rabin.

The victim was asked to take a shower with the suspect, masturbate the suspect with her hand and she was forced to sleep with him. The suspect also touched the victim inappropriately, undressed in front of her and tried to “teach” her about sex.

Authorities said the investigation was long and difficult because the suspect worked overseas and refused to come back to the states.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office got the help of the U.S. Marshal's Office to locate Rabin and worked with the State Attorney's Office to issue an arrest warrant.

Once Rabin returned to the U.S., he was located and arrested on the Citrus County warrant.

“We take these cases very seriously,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast about the case. “We’ll use whatever means necessary to ensure that an innocent victim isn’t harmed again by a predator like Rabin."

Rabin is being held on a $12,000 bond.
