Police are investigating an overnight homicide in Tampa.

According to police, officers responded to the area of North 23rd Street and East Lake Avenue just after midnight. A man's body was found in the parking lot of the Lake Avenue liquor store.
Police have identified the victim as 39-year-old Curtis Eugene Thomas who lived on 21st Street.

Police have not released a cause of death, only saying Thomas suffered severe upper body trauma. Officers have not said if there are any witnesses or leads in the case.
The early-morning investigation shut down two blocks around Lake Avenue and 22nd Street as part of the investigation.
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay has offered a $3,000 reward for any information in the case that leads to an arrest.
