A study done by ZipRecruiter lists Tampa as one of the 20 fastest cities for tech job growth.

  • Three Florida cities make top 20 list
  • Tax breaks, cost of living listed as key reasons

Tampa ranked 17th in the study, while Orlando was sixth and Jacksonville was ninth.

The study listed tax breaks, government policies and cost of living as reasons tech companies are moving to Florida cities.

Huntsville, Ala., was first on the list.

"The tech industry is no longer bound to the coast," said ZipRecruiter's Chief Economic Adviser, Cathy Barrera. "As a result, we're seeing the tech industry expand out of the major metropolis areas, and into smaller regional cities that have since flown largely under the radar."

Barrera also cited the skyrocketing cost of living in coastal tech hubs like San Francisco and New York.

The study analyzed eight million active jobs and was based on year-over-year data.
