Funeral services for Sgt. William Trampas Bishop, who was killed on Saturday while conducting a traffic-accident investigation, has been scheduled, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 52-year-old trooper was killed on Saturday night when he was outside of his vehicle and investigating a crash on State Road 93 in Alachua County when he was hit by another vehicle.

Bishop, a 30-year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol, and another person involved in the crash, John C. Sams of Lady Lake, was taken to Shands Hospital.

Bishop died at the hospital.

Family will have friends at the church on Thursday, June 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 3596 South Highway 441 Lake City, Fla., 32025.
