A 47-year-old man from Gibsonton was killed early Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler northbound on I-75 near Mile Marker 240 just before 3 a.m. when the vehicle went off the road. 

Troopers said the Jeep went onto the shoulder of the road, overturned and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

Officials have not released the man's name as of yet.
