According to police, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 6400 block of 22nd Street South just before 2 a.m.

Upon arrival, police found two people in a Toyota Rav 4 SUV suffering from gunshot wounds. The SUV was in the driveway of a home.

The driver was identified as Jacqueline Green, 48, and the passenger was identified as Ashland Jarrett, 45.

Jarrett died at the scene, police said. Green was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg but died a short time later.

Officials did not say why the people were at the home or if the killings were random.
