HUDSON -- Health officials in Pasco County are investigating multiple illnesses at Hudson Elementary School.

  • Hudson Elementary sicknesses
  • Stomach issues causing hundreds to miss school
  • School officials cancel event, send letter home

Authorities said a stomach issue is going around, causing 80+ students to be absent last Thursday. School officials sent a letter home informing parents of the illnesses.

The next day there were more than 130 students and a dozen staff out. Monday, about 105 students were reported absent and 25 were sent home with various symptoms.

Administrators are asking parents to keep students home if they are feeling any symptoms.

The symptoms have been fever, headache and diarrhea. Officials are advising parents to keep students home for 24 hours after the symptoms subside.

Hudson Elementary officials canceled a school event Tuesday night due to the outbreak.

School officials said there is no evidence the sicknesses have been called by norovirus.
