The driver of a Mustang was street racing at 102 mph on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa last week before hitting and killing a mother who was legally crossing the street, along with her toddler daughter in a stroller, according to a Tampa Police arrest warrant.

Detectives said electronic evidence from the Mustang also shows the driver, Cameron Herrin, 18, began breaking hard right before the crash on May 23. Jessica Raubenolt, 24, and her 21-month-old daughter, Lillia, were killed.

According to the warrant, multiple witnesses saw the Mustang racing an Altima northbound on Bayshore Boulevard. Witness Rob Brooklyn said he saw Raubenolt’s body go flying through the air and told investigators that he was, “100 percent certain the two vehicles were racing.”

Herrin and the 17-year-old driver of the Altima, whom we’re not identifying because he’s a minor, were charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. Herrin’s brother, 20-year-old Tristan, was a passenger in the Altima and was charged with racing.

Herrin was released from a Hillsborough County jail a day after the crash on a $60,000 bond. According to court records, Herrin hired high profile attorney John Fitzgibbons to defend him.
