SPRING HILL, Fla. -- Hernando County authorities are searching for a man they say tried to attack a woman at an apartment complex.

Deputies were called to the Bridgewater Club Apartments in Spring Hill Saturday at 2 a.m. 

A woman told deputies she was attacked while walking from one apartment in the complex to her apartment. 

She said a man, described as in his early 30s and wearing a red shirt. According to the victim, the man began making small talk and the two spoke briefly before the victim said goodbye and continued on her way. 

Moments later, the man ran up behind the victim and knocked her to the ground, deputies said. The suspect attempted to sexually batter her but she began screaming loudly, causing the suspect to run off.

The suspect did manage to steal the woman's cellphone.
