ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-- A St. Petersburg man has been arrested after police say he shot his former girlfriend.

Police responded to 920 20th St. South Tuesday just after 5:30 p.m. 

Officers said during a domestic incident, James Brown, Jr., 52, shot his ex-girlfriend, 52-year-old Philandria Nero, in her home.

Brown is facing charges for attempted murder.

Nero is in the hospital in critical condition. 

No one else was in the home at the time of the shooting. 

Authorities have not released any further information.
