BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- A popular downtown Brooksville café is reopening it’s doors Monday after being damaged by an electrical fire in May.

  • The Little Lady Cafe will reopen on Monday
  • It was closed after being damaged by an electrical fire
  • The owner said community's support has been kept her going

The team at Little Lady Café has been hard at work ever since to get the doors back open.

"I walked in and said I have a restaurant again," owner Rory Steele said.

Through it all, Steele said her main goal was to make sure the space had a homey feel.

"We have our new bar," she said. "We like to be more hands on in the morning where everybody likes to come in and sit and talk and get their day started."

Steele said while the last few months haven't been easy, it's been the community support that has kept her going.

"There's not a day that's gone by that somebody hasn't come and stopped by to see me, called me, maybe dropped off lunch, brought bottles of water for the employees, the contractors," she said. "And they were more than encouraging, 'We need you back not we want you we need you back.'"

Steele said many people have even donated art pieces designed specifically for her that are on display in the café.

"(A local artist) dropped it and she cracked it and she said I would fix it or I would have re-done it but it really signifies you. You had a little break and now you're back and you're bigger. I cried. I literally balled my eyes out," Steele said.

A community coming together, bringing new life and energy to a place so many know and love.

Little Lady Café is open daily from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
