ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a box truck late Saturday afternoon.

St. Petersburg Police responded to the crash near the 400 block of Park St. N. around 5:30 p.m.
Police said a Yamaha motorcycle, driven by 30-year-old Michael Baker, was speeding northbound on Park Street when Baker leaned his bike into the right hand turn and lost control.
The motorcycle slid into the southbound lanes and struck the front of a box truck, driven by 28-year-old Andriy Dorosh.
Police said Baker, who was wearing a helmet, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Pete where he later died.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
