Hernando County, Fla. --  New and improved kayak launch coming to Linda Pedersen Park

Access to the Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail is about to improve. Construction will begin today, September 18th, on a new kayak launch system at Linda Pedersen Park.

This new, integrated system will make launching and docking safe, easy and dry, even as water levels change. The fixed dock will be at the parking lot level and connect to an aluminum ramp that will lead to a floating dock and kayak launch.

The Linda Pedersen Park launch is expected to be closed for three weeks while construction takes place. During the closure, users can launch for free at the nearby Jenkins Creek boat ramp.

Linda Pedersen Park is one of two official free kayak launches for the Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail. This nearly five-mile winding waterway can also be accessed at Bayport Park. Signs clearly mark distance and direction. While kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding this scenic trail through Jenkins Creek, with a short jaunt to Redfish Bayou, you will be immersed in a vibrant, tidal estuary home to a variety of wildlife.
