SPRING HILL, Fla. — A 27-year-old Hernando County man is facing 10 counts of attempted murder after authorities say he set fire to a former girlfriend's home in Spring Hill.

  • Man, 27, facing 10 charges of attempted murder
  • Deputies say Christopher Jamison set fire to an ex-girlfriend's home
  • Her family was in the home at the time of the fire

Christopher Lamar Jamison was taken into custody Thursday after a Hernando County Sheriff's Office investigation determined the July 23 fire at the home in the 4400 block of Chamber Court was intentionally set.

According to deputies, Jamison started the fire on the lanai of the home where his former girlfriend and her family lived. Authorities said the fire quickly spread from the lanai to the roof, engulfing a large portion of the residence.

One of the persons inside the residence saw the fire and alerted all of the other residents to evacuate. No one was injured in the fire.

Deputies said the former girlfriend had ended a relationship with Jamison about two months before the fire. Since then, Jamison had made several attempts to reconcile but the girlfriend refused.

According to the girlfriend's brother, during an argument between Jamison and his former girlfriend, he told her that if she did not reconcile with him, he would burn the house down.

After the fire, she obtained a domestic violence injunction against him.

Investigators said during a recorded call to the former girlfriend, Jamison admitted to starting the fire.

In addition to the 10 charges of attempted first-degree murder, Jamison is facing charges of arson and aggravated stalking. He is being held without bond.
