MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Dave Bristow, a well-known and much beloved community figure in Manatee County, has died.

Bristow died Sunday night of natural causes, officials said. 

Bristow was the longtime Public Information Officer for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. He also worked at WWSB as an anchor and a reporter and was the voice of Manatee Hurricane Football. 

"Today has been a tough day, as we deal with the sudden passing of our Director of Public Information and friend, Dave Bristow," the Manatee County Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page. "We know so many of you knew him and loved him, and we appreciate you reaching out, and sharing your condolences. Dave loved Manatee County and was a staple in our community. He’ll be greatly missed. We ask that you keep the Bristow family in your prayers during this difficult time. Services are being finalized and we’ll pass along that information as soon as we’re able."

A visitation is planned at Brown and Sons Funeral Home in Bradenton from 3 to 6 p.m. A funeral service is planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Bradenton.
