LARGO, Fla. — A Largo mom accused of buying beer and cigarettes rather than food for her children was arrested last Saturday and charged with two counts of felony child neglect, according to an arrest report.

  • Angela Wilson, 27, arrested Saturday night
  • Officers found house in "deplorable" condition, no edible food or beverage
  • Child told officers she did not eat often because Wilson only bought beer, cigarettes

“When the officers went to the house, they immediately noticed that the house was not just in disarray, but the conditions were what they consider to be deplorable,” said Lt. Randall Chaney. “No edible or drinkable food or beverage in the refrigerator whatsoever.”

Police were called to Wilson’s Largo apartment on Saturday night. A girl told officers that she was hungry and that they “do not eat often” because Wilson only buys beer and cigarettes, according to Largo Police.

Officers also noted that the children, ages 3 and 9, were extremely dirty, didn’t have sheets for their bed or any diapers for the toddler. Wilson also requested a drink before child protective investigators arrived because “she really needs a beer right now.”

Chaney said CPI moved the children to a safer location. Wilson posted a $10,000 bond and was released from the Pinellas County jail on Sunday.

We tried contacting Wilson at her home, but nobody came to the door.
