On Saturday, an event called "Homeless Community Service Day" was held at Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa. It happens a few times a year and is aimed at helping homeless and low income families get the help they need. The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office had a booth set up to help the homeless register to vote.

Representatives from organizations all over the Tampa Bay area attended to provide information about the different services available. From housing to health insurance, booths were set up and everyone who attended was fed a warm meal.

“I found the couple times I didn’t vote, I got people in office that I didn’t like as much so I really feel it’s important to vote this year," said Christina Long, who registered at the booth on Saturday.

Long was able to use a local polling location's address on the application since she doesn't have a permanent address.

“That can get you registered. Especially for the homeless people who don’t have an address," said Sidney Pascua, who is involved with the county's outreach program.

“It’s convenient to know right where to go. That’s nice," said Long.
