TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — The Tarpon Springs Police Department arrested a 17-year-old in the attempted armed robbery and stabbing of a Cross Fit employee in Tarpon Springs.

The teen is accused of stabbing a 16-year-old employee at Cross Fit Tarpon Springs on US 19 North. 

Police said the 16-year-old employee was in the parking lot when the suspect came up behind him and stabbed him before taking off. 

Witnesses were able to copy the tag number of the suspect's vehicle.  Police also recovered a knife during the investigation. 

The 17-year-old faces charges of attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery. 

The teen is expected to be okay, officials say.
