BRANDON, Fla. — A 25-year-old was killed when he lost control of his vehicle after fleeing from a crash involving a Hillsborough County deputy.

Deputies said Jesse Wood crashed into the back of a sheriff's vehicle on State Road 60 at Limona Road around 2 a.m. Wood fled the crash scene and traveled north on Limona Street. 

The deputy involved in the crash was not able to pursue Wood due to his vehicle being incapacitated. 

Deputies said Wood was traveling 50 miles per hour as he crossed the railroad grade just north of Victoria Street and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle rolled over onto its side and Wood died at the scene. 

Deputies said alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation.
