PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A charity in Pasco County will be able to help more families this Thanksgiving, thanks to the efforts of a gym in Odessa.

  • Gym holds food drive to feed families
  • The supplies will be used for Thanksgiving meals
  • Volunteer Way says the donations will help through the holidays

BCMF Total Phit held a food drive called Operation Feed Pasco, which brought in even more supplies.

Volunteer Way coordinator Jeannine Xanthopoulous' reaction to the stack of donations said it all.

"It's beautiful. It's amazing. It's hair raising," she said.

Xanthopoulous says the donations will help get the charity through the holidays.

"This is amazing. And it's not just food. It's for animals and children, too," she said.

Volunteer Way partnered with the gym and other businesses for Operation Feed Pasco, holding a food drop off event on Sunday.

Gym owners Jennie Parente and Maria Callahan wanted to help out after realizing that Volunteer Way helps feed thousands of families a month.

"The turnout has been great," Parente said. "It's been food, dog food, baby items. Everyone cleared out their closets and dropped it off."

"You always think one small idea isn't going to do anything. But with a positive community behind you, it just spreads and spreads," Callahan said.

Volunteers say the donations will make a huge difference at this time of the year.

Supplies can be dropped off at Volunteer Way's New Port Richey location at 8061 Congress Street.
