11:20 a.m. update: The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said Friday that the 10-year-old girl made up the story.

"She admitted that she lied about it and made it up after being dared by a friend to do it," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Due to her age, no charges will be filed for filing a false police report.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported attempted kidnapping in Moon Lake Estates on Monday evening.

A 10-year-old girl told deputies that an unknown man in a tan, four-door vehicle with no license plate, pulled up to her at the intersection of Banbury Avenue and Cardy Street around 5 p.m. 

According to the report, the man told the young girl that he was friends with her mother and told her to get inside the vehicle and he would take her to get candy and ice-cream.

Deputies said the man eventually drove away after the girl told him she was going to call 911 if he didn't leave her alone. 

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s with a medium skin tone, black hair, brown eyes, corn rows pulled back into a "ball," and facial hair stubble. According to the report, he was wearing a red tank top, black shorts, gold chains with a dollar sign pendant, and has a tattoo on his upper right arm depicting a naked woman.
