Elton John's official Twitter account released a statement Wednesday, apologizing for the cancellations of the sold-out shows at the Amway Center Tuesday and Amalie Arena Wednesday.

"Elton and his band play 100 percent live and with impaired hearing and ear pain he wouldn't have been able to deliver the performance his fans deserve," the statement read.

Officials at Amway Center announced the show's cancelation on Twitter almost an hour after 8 p.m. on Tuesday , when the Orlando show was scheduled to start.

Amway Center officials encouraged attendees to keep their tickets, as a "rescheduled Orlando date will be announced in the near future."

He was scheduled to perform in Tampa Wednesday night at the Amalie Arena, but the sold-out show has since been postponed and will be rescheduled as well.

Amalie Arena officials in a news release said tickets purchased for the original show are valid for the rescheduled date.

Elton John is currently on his farewell tour, “Farewell Yellow Brick Road,” across the world. It kicked off in the U.S. in September.

It's not known yet when Elton John will play the rescheduled shows, but his tour is expected to return to Florida in March 2019.
