HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Residents in Hernando County were already feeling the chill Tuesday ahead of some of the coldest weather of the season moving in over the next 24-48 hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Hernando County for late Wednesday into Thursday morning.

But residents told us Tuesday evening that they're already bracing for the cold.

"I'm dressed like I'm freezing. It's cold out here," said Will Nichols.

People walked around neighborhoods wearing coats and even put sweaters on their dogs.

After dark, most outdoor eating spots were empty. Employees said business was rather slow.

Josh Rodriguez had to work, but he said wearing a company cap was a lifesaver.

"Once it hits 4 or 5 o'clock tonight, it got chilly, so I think it's actually a great idea to wear the hat, so not only am I getting some advertisement out of it for people who come to the store, but I'm keeping myself warm," he laughed.

In neighborhoods, plants and bushes were covered with blankets to protect them from the cold.

"Tonight I'm going to shut a few windows, so it will probably be perfect in the house," said Nichols.
