NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A day after neighbors stepped up to help a New Port Richey couple whose home was hit by an EF1 tornado, a business in nearby Holiday offered its assistance.

“They came and just surprised us,” said homeowner Lisa Manaseri. “We stopped by to actually find out what size blade we needed for our chainsaw to do that this afternoon, and they stopped and asked if they could do it for us.”

Brothers David and Peter Lucadano own RedTree Landscape Systems in Holiday. David Lucadano said after seeing coverage of the damage on the news, they wanted to find out if the Manaseris needed a hand.

“We decided to take a drive and look at the property this morning, and of course, we found all the aftermath here from the storm, and we wanted to know what we could do to help,” said Lucadano.

When the couple told him they didn’t have insurance, they offered to take down the two damaged trees in their yard and clear away the debris for free. Lucadano said it’s a job that would normally cost at least $2,000.

“We’ve been in this community in the New Port Richey area for over 30 years," Lucadano said. "We love our community, and whatever we can do to help people in need, we’re always looking for those opportunities."

Because one of the trees was close to power lines, Lucadano said they also wanted to make sure the trees were removed safely.

“To take that off is amazing. It’s one less thing. Now, we only have two big things left, and we’ll be back in our house,” said Manaseri.

One of those projects is replacing their roof, which was ripped off during the storm. The Manaseris said an Orlando-based company offered to provide them with the materials needed to fix it for free.

The other hurdle: getting their power turned back on.
