TAMPA, Fla. — A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with threatening a deputy in the Northdale neighborhood where a fire destroyed a home Monday late Monday.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Patrick O'Brien was taken into custody after shoving a woman to the ground, running from deputies and eventually threatening authorities with a knife. 

O'Brien was living at 16311 Norwood Drive, the home that caught fire Monday evening.

Authorities said O'Brien entered 4732 Windflower Circle in the Northdale area of Carrollwood without permission just before 7 p.m. Monday. When he was told to leave by residents in the home, he pushed the woman and ran into the backyard, deputies said. 

When deputies arrived, he would not obey commands and ran towards a deputy with a knife in his right hand, according to the arrest report.

O'Brien was shot with a Taser and he was taken into custody.

He has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and burglary occupied dwelling with assault or battery. 

An investigation is ongoing.

Authorities also are investigating Monday evening's house fire which was a short distance away in the same Northdale neighborhood at Norwood Drive.
