UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- Union County Commissioners want to put Republican Mark Harris in the U.S. House of Representatives -- and they want to do it now.

More on the District 9 Election Investigation:

Commissioners are worried about a lack of representation for North Carolina in congress if this issue isn't resolved by the time new congressmen and women are sworn in, in January.

As the investigation into the District 9 Congressional Race continues some of the affected counties are becoming agitated that there seems to be no solution in sight.

Some commissioners in Union County are only getting more concerned as the first week of January draws closer.

So with a 3-1 vote Monday night, the commissioners passed a resolution demanding the State Board of Elections moves forward to resolve the issue and put Mark Harris in congress.

"If they want to investigate this for 10 years, I don’t care, but they need to seat the congressmen so we have constituent services and we have representation in congress, until then we have taxation without representation,” said Stony Rushing, a Union County commissioner.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections announced Monday that they will hold a public hearing on January 11 for candidates to present their evidence in the investigation.

The state board will make a presentation and call witnesses to back up their findings, then the candidates will get the chance to make their case.

The NCGOP wants the SBOE to immediately hold the hearing or certify the results to declare Mark Harris as the winner over Democratic opponent, Dan McCready.
