ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Skies will be mostly clear with just some high thin clouds passing between now and sunrise.

Temperatures will again be cool for the morning, with lows in the 40s for inland areas and low 50s near the coast.

  • Cool morning
  • Rain Thursday/Friday
  • Chilly weekend

Wednesday will start with sunny skies, but clouds will be on the increase from the afternoon into the evening. Highs will reach the low 70s before the clouds get too thick.

There will be a batch of showers moving in from the south Wednesday night and drifting across the area.

As a result, expect we’ll likely wake up to some wet roads Thursday morning, with temperatures in the low to mid 60s.

Temperatures will only climb a little to a high near 70 Thursday.

That day we’ll see a line of showers and storms move in from the Gulf of Mexico. The timing is still in question and it might even come in a couple segments.

Either way, all locations will end up with rain by the end of the day as that batch of rain moves through.

Also we’ll be tracking for the possibility of some strong storms with Klystron 9.

There will be a gap in the rain Thursday night for a certain amount of time, followed by another round of showers moving in Friday from the gulf. We don’t expect any thunderstorms Friday, but we do expect a large area of rain.

Temperatures will hold steady in the 60s, with the coolest air not arriving until Saturday.

Expect drier, cooler air to start arriving Friday night into Saturday morning with the rain exiting.

Saturday will start with lows in the 40s to low 50s, followed by highs possibly not reaching 60. It will be a cool, breezy day, but at least the skies will be clearing out with sunshine returning.
