  • Deputies: Pair tried to deliver tobacco, phones to relative in prison
  • Casandra Kerr, 40, and Cencetta Didiano, 22, face charges

Guards at the Martin Correctional Institute reportedly spotted a hovering object flying over the rooftop of the prison, located in Indiantown, and alerted staff, according to officials Tuesday.

When Martin County deputies responded, they said they found Casandra Kerr, 40, and her daughter, Cencetta Didiano, 22, driving around the facility.

When stopped, the pair admitted that the drone was theirs and they were attempting to use it to deliver tobacco and cell phones to Kerr's husband in the facility, deputies said.

Kerr and Didiano were arrested. Kerr was charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility, and Didiano was charged with aiding in the effort.

The "Christmas deliverables," as officials referred to the items the pair were trying to deliver, were collected and are being kept as evidence, investigators said.
