HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — While Santa Claus was busy last night delivering all those gifts, a family in Hernando County had their own special delivery.

  • Oak Hill Hospital welcomes first Christmas baby
  • Christina Lee gave birth to Anastasia at 2:14 a.m.

While it was a silent night for many families fast asleep, eager to see what waits for them under the Christmas Tree, in the maternity suites at Oak Hill Hospital, it was anything but silent.

“Definitely not planning on having a Christmas baby,” mom Christina Lee said.

Around midnight Christina Lee rushed to the hospital with labor pains. Her due date is still a month away.

“Things just happened very quickly,” she said.

Little Anastasia was eager for her first Christmas morning and was born at 2:14 a.m. She was Oak Hill's first Christmas baby this year.

“It will always be special. I don’t know if she’ll like having to have her birthday on Christmas but it definitely was a blessing,” Christina said. “It was a perfect Christmas gift,” said father Mark Lee.

Dad and brother Tristan are just as thrilled. Tristan quickly embraced his big brother title.

“He’s been anxious the past few weeks,” Mark explained. “He went to bed last night, woke up, and didn’t know he had a visit from Santa Claus and baby sister arrived, so he had a pretty eventful night,” he added.

It’s just as exciting for the staff too. They say it makes working on Christmas Day just a bit easier.

“That’s kind of the best part that you get to share in those special moments with the moms and dads. It’s a great present,” said Labor and Delivery Nurse Christine Potosky

A Christmas they’ll certainly never forget.
