A statewide candlelight vigil will be held Monday night in honor of the victims of the tragic school shooting in Parkland.

The vigils are scheduled for 7 p.m. Several will be taking place in the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Orange Counties.

The principal of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has plans of his own to honor the victims.

"We're going to take the love that got lost on Wednesday and we are going to spread that over the next days, weeks, months, and maybe even years," Ty Thompson said.

Officials said the school shooting lasted for a total of six minutes with the shooter firing into five classrooms. Four on the first floor and one on the second.
