ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 64-year-old man was hit and killed early Thursday morning while riding his bike on 64th Street South in St. Petersburg. 

Police said the victim, Sheldon Wagner Jr., was riding his bicycle northbound on the west side of the southbound lane on 64th Street, when he made a sudden attempt to cross the street in front of traffic. 

A Nissan Ultima ended up hitting Wagner, causing fatal injuries.  Wagner was transported to Palms of Pasadena Hospital where he died a short time later. 

Police said the driver of the Nissan will not face any charges in the crash.
