TAMPA, Fla. — A new candidate has joined the race for Tampa mayor as another debate is set for Wednesday night.

Dick Greco Jr., son of former Tampa mayor Dick Greco, is now in the running. His father served two terms as mayor.

Greco is a former Hillsborough County and Circuit Court judge.

Nine candidates are now vying for the mayor's seat being vacated by Bob Buckhorn.

Wednesday's debate is at the Rial Theatre in Tampa. It will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are required.

Election Day is March 5. If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates move on to the April 23 runoff.

The new mayor takes office in May.
