BRANDON, Fla. — Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies are investigating two overnight deaths.

  • 2 death investigations in Brandon
  • One person shot in a vehicle; another found dead at apartment
  • Deputies say incidents not related

Officials said it does not appear that the incidents are connected.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, a deputy spotted a van that appeared disabled on Woodberry Road near Essex Road. The deputy blocked the road then discovered the driver had been shot, officials said.

That person died at an area hospital.

Investigators said they believe the shooting was a targeted attack. Deputies canvassed the neighborhood overnight to find witnesses and any security camera footage that may help identify a suspect.

A few hours later, deputies were called to the Indigo Point Apartments at 1850 Providence Lakes Boulevard, where a body was found inside an apartment.

Deputies waited for a search warrant to get inside the apartment and begin investigating.

In both cases, the sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call (813) 247-8200.

At this point it does not appear the investigations or crime scenes are connected.
