BRADENTON, Fla. — Flowers, balloons, and tears have been accumulating at a crash site in Bradenton after an 18-year-old was killed.

  • Victoria Mobley, 18, killed in Bradenton crash
  • Troopers say Adonis Waters, 23, crashed into Victoria's car
  • Charges in the fatal crash are pending, troopers say

Victoria Mobley was leaving her sister's home Saturday around 11:30 p.m. with a friend, according to her family.

When she got to the intersection of 27th Street East and 26th Avenue, state troopers say Adonis Waters, 23, was driving recklessly trying to flee from an earlier crash in Bradenton and ran the red light.

Investigators say he crashed into Victoria's car, sending her into a utility pole, ejecting her and her passenger Nauryn Laws, also 18.

Mobley was killed, and now her father Paul Mobley is having a hard time living with that.

"I didn't want to bury my children," Mobley said. "None of them. I wanted them to bury me."

He says Victoria was preparing to graduate from Manatee High School this spring, and they were talking about her going to college.

"It's going to be hard,” Paul said. "I mean, it's sad that these things happen … Mommas grab your child and hold them closer."

Waters is in critical condition. His passengers Daniel Matias, 13 and Shaneece Bell, 17, have critical and minor injuries respectively. There's no word on injuries in connection with the first crash.

State troopers say charges are pending.
