POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Robert Kelly, known to the world as R & B superstar R. Kelly, made an appearance in court Saturday, where a judge gave him a $1 million bond. He's charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The Grammy award winning singer turned himself in Friday night . The grand jury indictment alleges he sexually assaulted four people including three teens between 1998 and 2010.

R. Kelly’s attorney says his client is innocent. He also claimed the 52-year-old singer is struggling to come up with the bond money.

There have been allegations for years that R. Kelly has been having sex with underage girls.

“When it comes to child predators and child pornographers, if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck,  flies like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck. In this case, I believe he’s a child predator,” said Polk County Florida Sheriff Grady Judd, whose agency arrested R. Kelly in 2002 on an out of state warrant, and found child porn during a search of his vacation home, according to Judd.

Polk county mom Alice Clary was just as happy as Sheriff Judd about the arrest. She posted on Facebook that she was in Chicago, looking for her daughter, who took off to be with R. Kelly when she was 17.

“We need for this man to stay, this man to stay in custody. We need for him, for these charges to stick,” said Alice Clary on her Facebook page.  “We need for him to do some time and everybody associated with him. “

Clary was featured in the Lifetime movie, “Surviving R. Kelly.” After it aired, the Cook County State Attorney's Office began looking into the case again.

R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges back in 2008.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida had arrested R. Kelly back in 2002 but the courts threw out the case.

“We lost with a suppression hearing and he was in possession in child pornography then. And all throughout his career, we have seen him hanging out with very young children. We’ve always suspected he’s a child predator and it appears the police have the evidence they need this time,” Judd said.

Judd advised the detectives on this case to be very thorough with their investigation.

“My advice to them is double check. Triple check. Have redundancies in your investigation because he’s got a lot of money and great defense attorneys, and they’ll do everything they can and spend every penny they need to beat the charges once again,” Judd said.
