ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Residents who plan to visit downtown St. Petersburg today or this weekend should be aware of road closures for the Firestone Grand Prix.

The first race was scheduled for just before noon Friday, with events lasting until 7 p.m.
The main event race is on Sunday.
Drivers say the 1.8 mile track that runs along the water downtown is unique and challenging.
